Everything you need to know about Third Sector Builders
Third Sector Builders is a Pan-African not-for-profit advisory and implementation support organization transforming how development gets done. Born from decades of experience leading impactful programs across Africa and Latin America, we partner with funders, NGOs, and grassroots movements to redesign development, shifting power, building resilient systems, and centering communities.
TSB was founded in July 2025 as a not-for-profit organisation by a team of experienced development professionals committed to advancing locally led solutions across Africa.
TSB is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and brings together a distributed team of senior technical leads across East and West Africa, providing cross-regional expertise in both Anglophone and Francophone contexts.
The Third Sector refers to mission-driven, non-profit and social purpose organizations that operate outside government and outside for-profit markets. Unlike businesses driven by profit, Third Sector actors exist to advance public good, equity, and social justice. These organizations including civil society, community-based, and social impact institutions play a critical role in strengthening systems, shifting power, and delivering locally led solutions.
A field builder (sometimes written field-builder) is an individual or organization that works to strengthen an entire sector or ecosystem, not just deliver projects or services within it.
To strengthen the people, institutions and systems that power lasting locally led change across Africa.
A thriving African third sector that leads transformative change in health, rights, and development.
We partner with civil society organisations, foundations, government agencies, UN bodies, and grassroots movements committed to locally led development, health equity, and social justice.
Our core services include strategic planning and organisational development, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), movement building and coalition strengthening, leadership coaching and capacity building, and research and evidence generation.
We offer three flagship products: the Movement Building Accelerator, the Youth Leadership Accelerator, and IMPACT AI (AI for Social Impact), each designed to strengthen organisations and leaders driving change across Africa.
A structured programme that helps coalitions, networks, and advocacy movements strengthen their coordination, strategy, and collective impact.
A capacity-building programme designed to equip young leaders with the skills, networks, and confidence to drive change in their communities and sectors.
IMPACT AI (AI for Social Impact) supports organisations to harness artificial intelligence and data science tools ethically and effectively for programme design, learning, and decision-making.
